Excuse me! Do we know you?

Sonam Kapoor at Cannes

Bollywood is always excited when it comes to talking about their achievements at Cannes or walking the red carpet. But the real inside picture came forward this year when many of our Bollywood celebs went unrecognized by the foreign media. The only celeb who was recognized by the paparazzi was none other than Bollywood actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Here we bring to you; some of the Bollywood celebs who tried their best to make their presence felt at Cannes but were unfortunately were unsuccessful.
Bollywood actress, Mallika Sherawat walked the red carpet at Cannes to promote her upcoming movie, ‘Politics of Love’. She has been very spirited about her so called stint in Hollywood. She was all very excited about her appearance at the red carpet and she surprised everybody with her see-through black dress that she wore on the first day. But what’s even more surprising is that nobody recognised her and the paparazzi ended up confusing her for Spanish actress, Stephanie Sigman.
Saif Ali Khan may be a big name in Bollywood but a large number of international media failed to recognize him. The ‘Chhote Nawab’ was at Cannes as the brand ambassador a reputed liquor brand. When he made his entry on the red carpet, his name was not even announced. Then he started walking in between two Hollywood heavyweights. In front of him were Antonio Banderas and his wife Melanie Griffith and behind Saif were Salma Hayek and her hubby Francois Pinault. No one seemed interested in clicking picture of Saif and half of them didn’t even notice him in between.
Bollywood actress, Sonam Kapoor was captioned as an unidentified guest by a leading news agency. Sonam who all decked up, arrived at the red carpet at Cannes for the screening of the movie, ‘The Artist’. But unfortunately the paparazzi failed to recognize her on the red carpet and tagged her as an unidentified guest.
Minissha Lamba was one actress who was given the worst cold-shoulder.  When Minissha walked the red carpet she was captioned as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan by the international media. Thanks to the almost similar gowns that both Minissha and Aishwarya wore at the red carpet, the former was mistaken as Aishwarya.
As usual, Aishwarya was the only celeb who got recognized by the international media, thanks to her previous nine appearances at Cannes. Since nobody else was recognized there, guess what the others were doing there??

People Magazine names Katrina as India's most beautiful woman

The current buzz in B-town is about Bollywood’s top actress Katrina Kaif, who has been declared as India’s most beautiful woman by the People Magazine.

This was formally announced at the Crossword bookstore in Mumbai's Juhu suburban area, on May 26, when Katrina Kaif launched the latest issue of the Magazine that consisted of the annual list of India’s most beautiful women.

Reportedly, she has outdone actress Kareena Kapoor, who has been called as India’s second most beautiful woman, to claim the top position this year.

A source informed that after launching the magazine, she did not stay on for long and left the venue after meeting her fans.

Katrina looks ravishing at the launch
Katrina made heads turn at the event, as she graced the stage in a ravishing red dress, which made her look as beautiful and radiant as ever.

A source present at the occasion said, “Katrina's hair was worn down with a side parting. The fashionista picked a well above the knee red dress with thin straps, setting off a perfectly toned body.”

“T-strap gold heels and red painted toenails completed the outfit, while her face was done up in warm eye shadows, pink rouge and lip color,” the insider disclosed.

Reports claimed that when the scribes present at the occasion started pouring questions regarding Salman Khan, she got upset and she told the media to leave aside any questions pertaining to the ‘Dabangg’ actor.

Penelope Cruz is Kat’s role model
India’s most beautiful woman told the People Magazine that she has always liked Hollywood actress Penelope Cruz for her natural beauty.

Insisting that Oscar-winning actress Cruz was her beauty role model, Kat said, “I’ve always loved her style. She doesn’t look overdone or over-processed. She looks so natural.”

Katrina has two upcoming films that include the Imran Khan-starrer ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ and Salman Khan-starrer ‘Ek Tha Tiger’.

'No photos did justice to Madhubala's beauty'

The name Madhubala conjures up so many images of the yesteryear actress in our minds. Her beauty, grace, comic timing -- everything about her has turned into a legend over the last 40 years.
Strangely, for a celebrity of her stature and repute there's hardly any documentation of the legendary actress' life and time.
That's what pushed Khatija Akbar to take up the task of writing a biography on Madhubala. In 'I Want To Live' The Story Of Madhubala the author has written about the lesser-known aspects of the actress' life.
Present here, are excerpts from the book:
Engraved on the collective consciousness of lovers of cinema the images remain fresh in every viewer's memory. She was perceived as the 'Venus of the Indian Screen' (Baburao Patel's appellation that stuck to her), but how was Madhubala viewed by those of her own generation in the film industry particularly the actress?
'She was ecstatically, exasperatingly beautiful', exclaimed Nadira in her characteristic style. 'She created a kind of reverence, she had such an aura about her.' Begum Para saw her sometimes in the mornings when she went out for a walk. 'You saw Madhubala's face and your day was made. She was a dream really '. Nirupa Roy recalled, 'She was perfect, right down to her toe-nails. There never was and never will be anyone with her looks'.
'Her complexion was so fair and translucent that when she ate a paan (betel leaf) you could almost see the red colour going down her throat', recollects Minu Mumtaz. Nimmi confessed to passing a sleepless night after her first meeting with Madhubala on the sets of their common starrer Amar. How would she fare in the film alongside 'this apparition, this angel in human shape?'

The feeling of being struck dumb was a normal first-time reaction to Madhubala whether the hapless one was Shammi Kapoor or a casual visitor on her sets. For his first picture with Madhubala, P N Arora's Rail Ka Dibba (1953), Shammi Kapoor, dialogue forgotten and his mind a blank, could only gaze tongue-tied and lost. His brother Shashi Kapoor regretted the fact that he never got to act with her:

'She had a porcelain beauty, like Dresden china, very fragile, very delicate with a gorgeous infectious smile and very expressive eyes. There was a mystery about her.' Producer-director Manmohan Desai remarked: 'She was the only true beauty to grace the Indian screen and she was beautiful in every film with no exceptions.' Well-known journalist B K Karanjia discovered on first meeting her that 'none of her published photographs did full justice to her quite extraordinary beauty.' Filmfare, the premier film magazine of the time, wrote:

Her complexion is moon-kissed and the smile an irresistible come-hither but stay-where-you-are smile. J H Thakker spoke from a photographer's viewpoint: 'You could photograph her from any angle without make-up and still come away with a masterpiece. She was a cameraman's delight.'
