Salman Khan to perform at IIFA Awards 2010

Mumbai: Salman Khan said he will perform at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2010, to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from June 3–4, 2010. The actor was speaking at a press conference held in Mumbai.

 

Salman Khan and his Being Human Foundation will also support a cause.

The actor will be the 'Ambassador for Change' for the IIFA Charity Initiative.

Salman said, "I will perform at IIFA. Why else would I go there? I 'm not too crazy about this award – although Andre Timmins (Director, Wiz craft) is my friend. I'm there with IIFA and Being Human."

The actor however refused to reveal any details of his performance.

Boman Irani and Ritesh Deshmukh will once again perform at the award ceremony, to be joined by Lara Dutta.

Abhishek Bachchan AS 'Raavan’

The next film (after 'Yuva' and 'Guru') featuring Abhishek Bachchan and directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Raavan', has been in the news from the day of its launch. Not only does it have Abhi's wife Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, once again after 'Guru' but additionally features Tamil superstar Cheeyan Vikram. And here's the latest.

The audio of 'Raavan', that teams up Oscar and Grammy winner A. R. Rahman, with legendary lyricist Gulzar, is all set to release on 24th April.

   

 

Not only that, 'Raavan', which is all set to release globally on 18th June, will see its grand premiere at the 11th International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2010 from June 2 to 4.

Hrithik to perform at IPL 3 closing ceremony

The audience at the IPL 3 final at DY Patil stadium (Nerul) is in for a double treat on April 25. Apart from all the cricket excitement in the evening, the audience will get to see India’s dancing superstar Hrithik Roshan showing off his dancing skills.

Hrithik’s dances will also include a promotion activity for his forthcoming home production Kites, which is up for release next month.
A source says, “Like the previous seasons, the third season of the IPL this year has been a big hit ever since it started. Most of Hrithik’s songs are popular and his dance performance during the finale will be the icing on the cake. His performance will be part of the closing ceremony. It will be a rocking item.”
It is learnt that Hrithik, who is currently in Singapore, has been busy rehearsing for his IPL 3 act since the past couple of days.
We tried speaking to Hrithik’s father Rakesh Roshan, who claimed that he was unaware of Hrithik’s performance at the IPL 3 final. The actor’s official spokesperson said, “No comments.”

Hrithik shows SRK Kites newly

Hrithik Roshan held a special screening of the film Kites for his new best mate in the industry, Shah Rukh Khan. Held late on Sunday night, SRK was Roshan’s only guest.

It is believed that Roshan wanted some marketing tips from Khan, as well as wanted to get his genuine opinion on the movie.

 

“SRK liked the movie a lot, and told Hrithik the same. There were certain suggestions he gave him for the film promotion as well as the premieres the Roshans are planning all over the world,” says the source, “Khan is an actor and also a producer. So, he knows how to think like a businessman too. And that’s why Hrithik wanted to talk to him. The film has already gone well over budget, and now, the people behind it want to make sure that it is a resounding success internationally as well.”
A couple of weeks back, Hrithik had openly suggested that he would like marketing tips from Aamir and Shah Rukh.
"I don't know about the strategy and the marketing side of films. I'm still young in that space and still need to learn from my seniors and people who have inspired me, like Shah Rukh and Aamir," he was quoted saying.
The Hrithik-starrer Kites releases on May 21. The film also stars international actress Barbara Mori and Bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut. It is believed that the film will have two versions – one for India and a racier version for the West. Premieres are being planned for Dubai, London and Mumbai.

The 15th edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Autumn-Winter 2010, concluded in style with designers like Ranna Gill, Nida Mahmood , Rahul Mishra, Rahul Reddy, Monapali, Swapan & Seema, Ritu Beri and JJ Valaya. Shahid saves Anushka's life

On Sunday evening Anushkha had a hair's breadth escape from what could have been a catastrophic accident while shooting for a music video for Parmeet Sethi's Badmaash Company.

It happened at the M.T.Studio in Andheri (East) while Shahid and Anushka under the supervision of choreographer Ahmed Khan, were moving towards a pre-decided spot a little distance away from the place where a huge chandelier was hanging from the ceiling.

Before anyone knew what was happening, the chandelier suddenly came crashing down to the ground with a sound that pierced the entire studio compound.
The chandelier would have fallen straight on Anushka Sharma if it wasn't for Shahid's presence of mind. A split second before the chandelier hit the ground Shahid pushed the shaken and utterly petrified Anushka out of catastrophe's way.
“Sasha (Shahid) didn't push Anushka away. He pulled her towards himself. Just in time, Actually it was partly my fault. My instructions went a little awry and Shahid and Anushka along with Vir Das and Chang.
Anything could have happened, ” shudders choreographer Ahmed Khan and adds, “I hope we finish the song without more mishaps.
This is the third electrical mishap that has occurred during the shooting. Fortunately nothing happened to Anushka. But what if Sasha had not pulled her out of danger's way just in time?”
Anushka confirms the incident, “Yes it did happen. Shahid was quick to act. Luckily no one got injured.”

 

The real-life hero plays down the incident. “It was nothing major, ” says Shahid.
Incidentally this is the second time within a year that Shahid has come to his leading lady's rescue.
During the shooting of Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminey Priyanka Chopra was riding a scooter with Shahid on the pillion when she lost balanced and fell. Her face would have hit the ground if Shahid had not quickly buffered the imminent fall with his hand to protect her face.
“This is the sort of thing anyone would do, given the situation, ” says Shahid.
Don't be too sure, Shahid. Decades ago when chivalry was far more active than now, Joy Mukherjee had to carry Asha Parekh. He couldn't take the weight and just dropped her.
Poor Asha was bed-ridden with an injured back for three months.

Kareena Kapoor refuses to share the stage with Shahid Kapoor

Since the time Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor parted ways, Boney Kapoor’s project ‘Milenge Milenge’ has been suffering setbacks. First, the film has been out rightly delayed.
