Asia's Most Corrupt Nations::India is fourth
1. Indonesia
Indonesia -- with a score of 8.32 -- is Asia's most corrupt economy.
Corruption is said to be ingrained at all levels in Indonesia. Companies cite demands for irregular fees to obtain required permits or licenses as well as the awarding of government contracts and concessions based on personal relationships, according to the study.
The most corrupt are the police, the legislature, the judicial institutions, and political parties. However, foreign investment is rising in Indonesia but corruption, red tape and an uncertain legal environment pose as major challenges for conducting business in the country.
Many companies are skeptical about concessions offered on government contracts, permits or licences. About 50 per cent of companies report of local level corruption. Companies report that they pay bribes of nearly 40 per cent of their taxes.
2. Thailand
Thailand has a score of 7.63 and is Asia's 2nd most corrupt economy.
In Thailand, corruption has been in existence for a long time. Corruption has been rampant in government service, among political leaders and bureaucrats for years.
Corruption takes various forms from a small gift as a goodwill gesture to bribery to swing big deals.
According to the World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report 2008-2009, companies consider corruption to be the fourth most major barrier to doing business in Thailand after government and policy instability, and inefficient government bureaucracy.
The National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) reported that 95 mega-projects cost the state THB 400 billion solely due to corruption due to corruption since 2001. Bribery is rampant in the land department, tax and customs, transport and the Police departments.
Cambodia, with a score of 7.25, is Asia's third most-corrupt economy. According to estimates, 10 per cent of Cambodia's annual GDP is lost to corruption, highlighting largescale corruption.
It is has been 16 years since the United Nations organised elections in Cambodia to start a new democratic government after the terrible reign of the Khmer Rouge. But people are still suffering as the whole system is corrupt.
Corruption hampers economic opportunity and competitiveness, and demands for petty bribes are common. Pervasive corruption makes Cambodia highly vulnerable to penetration by drug traffickers and foreign crime syndicates, a study by the Heritage Foundation states.
!!India, Asia's 4th most corrupt nation!!
Corruption has gripped countries across the world. India is no execption. Many bribery and corruption scandals have tarnished India's image over the years. Across Asia, several countries still see rampant corruption at all levels exposing the nexus between political parties and corporate houses.
India, with a score* of 7.21 on the corruption index, is the fourth most corrupt nation in Asia, according to a survey by the Political and Economic Risk Consultancy (PERC).
Companies have cited excessive regulation and high levels of corruption as a major constraint to doing business in India. Corruption takes the form of bribery, kickbacks from deals and tax evasion in India. It continues to be a major concern, especially in government procurement of telecommunications, power, and defence deals, the study states.
Vietnam has a score of 7.11 on the corruption index and is Asia's 5th most corrupt country. Germany-based independent agency Transparency International also ranks Vietnam among the most corrupt countries.
It is said even government jobs and university degrees are available for 'sale'. About 20,000 state employees have been jailed or hauled up for corruption since the 1980s.
Lack of transparency in the decision-making process, administrative rules, regulations and procedures that frequently change without notice or reason, insufficient coordination between offices, close formal and informal ties with politicians and patronage systems have hit the economy.
These problems boost corruption. According to the World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report 2008-2009, companies operating in Vietnam cite corruption as one of the biggest problems while conducting business in the country.

Reason why internet connection work very slow
1. You are at, or beyond, the distance limits of your router (wiresless transmitter). Move closer to see if the problem is resolved.
2. There is interference between your PC and the wireless router, such as a 2.4GHz cordless phone, microwave oven, flourescent lights, etc. Temporarily disable the devices, one by one, until you determine the problem.
3. The antenae on either your router or PC is loose. Tighten each.
4. Your PC may be infected with a virus, trojan, or spyware that is eating up your bandwith, and causing packet loss.
Download the programs linked below. Install them. Update them. Scan your pc with them, and do so weekly.
If you have System Restore turned on, the Restore files may be infected, and trying to reinfect your pc. I turn off that feature, reboot to delete the files, then turn it on after a full system scan with AVG.

Michael Jackson
In the early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African-American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV. The popularity of his music videos airing on MTV, such as "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and Thriller—credited for transforming the music video into an art form and a promotional tool—helped bring the relatively new channel to fame. Videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream" made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced many hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B artists.
One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"— Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career—more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era. Jackson's highly publicized personal life, coupled with his successful career, made him a part of popular culture for almost four decades. Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest on June 25, 2009, aged 50.
Historical Background Of SMS
SMS messages may be sent either from one point to another point, or may be sent to all devices within a specific geographical region. The former, known as SMS-PP, is used primarily between individuals communicating with one another, while the latter, known as SMS-CB, may be used to broadcast public announcements such as road or weather conditions, region-specific advertising messages, or messages from a cell provider regarding the new coverage area.
SMS use for personal communication is rapidly increasing in popularity. In 2000, less than 20 billion SMS messages were sent; by 2004 that number had grown to in excess of 500 billion messages. The largest market for SMS is Southeast Asia, with Europe just behind. The United States has seemed to be a slow adopter for the early years of the 21st century, but the pace of texting appears to be increasing in the United States as service providers make its use, particularly between networks, easier.
With this surge in popularity and use, particularly among younger users, new shorthand's have developed to communicate more rapidly through the medium. This shorthand mirrors in many way the writing style of online chat, dropping vowels and superfluous letters, and replacing words and entire sounds with representative numbers or single letters. An example might read something like, "how r u?" to mean, "How are you?" or, "did u c wut he askd me 2 do? 4 shme!" to mean, "Did you see what he asked me to do? For shame!" Given the limitations of a smaller keypad, with multiple clicks required for many letters, such shorthand saves large amounts of time over the course of multiple SMS messages.
In addition to person-to-person communication via SMS, a number of television shows have begun accepting text messages for various purposes. Shows which have a voting system, such as American Idol, have begun integrating SMS voting, allowing viewers to easily make their choices using only their cell phone. In Europe, the idea has been pushed even further, with shows that allow viewers to control characters on screen using their cell phone's SMS capabilities.
Some online services, most notably Google, have integrated SMS capability to allow for the easy retrieval of information through one's cell phone. By texting a special number, for example, a cell phone user may receive information ranging from local weather, to sport scores, to where the nearest bus station is in their town. In addition to such regional information, services like Google SMS can also be used to quickly find the definition of a word, to convert one unit of measure to another, or to answer trivia questions. Using SMS, one can in essence access the vast informational resources of the Internet using only a cell phone.

A young executive was leaving the office late one evening when she found the CEO standing in front of a shredder with a piece of paper in her hand.
"Listen," said the CEO, "this is a very sensitive and important document here, and my secretary has gone for the night. Can you make this thing work?"
"Certainly," said the young executive.
She turned the machine on, inserted the paper, and pressed the start button.
"Excellent, excellent!" said the CEO as his paper disappeared inside the machine. "I just need one copy."

Beauty myths busted
Be it health or sexual fallacies or wrong perceptions about beauty, once accepted, myths are tough to be dumped. Here are some of the most common beauty myths that we get experts to bust.
Myth #1: Sun screen isn't required during winters/cloudy days
We believe in what we see and accordingly perceive a myth as the gospel truth. As the name suggests, sun screen doesn't imply that it needs to be applied only when Sun is shining bright. Experts say that the harmful UVA and UVB rays continue to render their damaging effects even when it's cloudy.
Fact : "Ultra violet (UV) rays are even stronger on cloudy days and they easily penetrate, even more so, through the clouds. These rays can infiltrate the skin and that's the reason why we get a tan even while sitting in an air-conditioned car. We don't feel the burn because it's cold inside, but our skin gets damaged significantly. All air hostesses and flight crew should wear UV protection on an aircraft because at the altitude at which they fly, the atmosphere is much thinner and the harmful rays penetrate through the windows of the aircraft," warns ace make-up artist Cory Walia.
Myth # 2: Chocolates and fried food causes pimples and acne
Denying the notion that eating chocolates and fried food leads to pimples, medically supported studies have shown that the prime cause behind pimples is extreme stress or dead skin cells blocking the skin's pores.
Fact : "Formation of pimples is an allergic reaction attributed to certain factors that the body is unable to process. It's basically an interaction between digestive fluids from the liver and the hormones in the body and when there is a clash between the two, excessive toxins and amino acids are pushed into the blood stream. These fats accelerate the growth of pimples. You will see very beautiful people who eat two bars of chocolate every day and still their skin keeps glowing," explains Walia.
Myth #3: Drinking lots of water makes the skin beautiful
Excess of anything is bad and the same holds true for this age-old belief that states that drinking lots of water makes the skin glow. Though water intake does contribute towards the betterment of our skin's texture, too much of it will only result in bloating and leading to several trips to the restroom.
Fact : "Water helps flushing out the toxins from our body, but one need not go overboard. It's a good idea to go on a Deter program once in a week where you should ideally consume 4-5 liters of water and this can include a liquid diet of vegetable and fruit juices. When you are eating wrong, doing no exercise etc, then there can be radical damage that causes ageing and disease, as it is thinning the collagen in our skin, so the water enters the body only in a limited quantity," shares skin care expert Jamuna Pai.
Myth #4: Cocoa butter and olive oil prevent stretch marks
All mums would heave a sigh of relief believing this statement, but alas this beauty fad lacks medical backing. Stretch marks occur when the skin expands quickly (as in the case of pregnancy), breaking the collagen and elastic fibers that normally support it. In some cases, it's the elasticity factor that contributes to the formation of stretch marks, in others it is caused by a woman's genes that are a hereditary attribute.
Fact : "Cocoa butter and olive oil help in the superficial softening of a woman's skin and the affected area for a shorter time period. Whether the skin breaks into stretch marks or not will depend on its elasticity. Applying these ointments help a bit on the external skin, but you need to have something that penetrates deeper into the other layers of the skin where these stretch marks are formed," clarifies Jamuna.
Myth #5: Soap is harmful for the skin
It's incorrect to say all soaps contain the same chemical mixtures that cause irritation on the one's skin.
Fact : "Using soap totally depends on the skin type a person possesses. So, whether a woman's skin is dry, oily or sensitive, one should choose the right kind of soap. It's preferable to use soap that possesses moisturising effects which helps making the skin soft," states Jamuna.
Myth #6: Conditioner is bad for the hair
One of the most prevalent myths related to hair care is about the usage of conditioner, as most people believe that using it regularly after every head wash damages the hair badly. It's also wrongly believed that using conditioner makes hair break easily, making hair dry after a point of time.
Fact : "Conditioner can and should be used after every shampoo. It not only helps getting rid of tangles, but also coats the hair and protects it from outside elements like Sun, dust and heat. Once you've applied the conditioner, there is no need to brush your hair hard as this prevents hair breakage. Preferably, if your hair has undergone chemical treatment, opt for a stronger conditioner, using a mild one for oily hair," shares celebrity hair stylist Coleen Fernandez.
Myth #7: Henna is a great conditioner
Another most common belief is that henna is one of the best natural conditioners. But not too many people know about the damage it does to your hair.
Fact : "While using henna, you're coating the hair and in the long run it makes hair fragile and brittle. The hair becomes heavy, extremely dry and suffers long term damage in other ways. If you think that it's fine to use henna once a month, I would say that it's not okay even once in a year. For those who still want to the henna effect, they can opt for ammonia free hair colour," suggests Coleen.
Myth #8: Rinsing hair with beer makes it thicker
This is a typical modern day formula, which believes that using beer will add a glow, making the hair thicker. Though a final rinse of beer at the end of a shower does lead to more voluminous strands, as beer builds up the circumference of the shafts, but the scent is a strong deterrent.
Fact : "Beer contains certain glycols (sugar) that coat the hair, making it look thicker. About using beer during a head wash, it has the same effect as vinegar or eggs adding a little shine. But the effect doesn't last long because the scalp doesn't absorb anything," asserts Cory Walia.
Kate Moss Celebrates Virgin Atlantic's 25th Birthday
Posing for a playful photo session, Kate Moss took to Heathrow Airport for Virgin Atlantic’s 25th birthday celebration on Monday (June 22).
Clad in a red, strapless ensemble paired with Yves Saint Laurent platform heels, the catwalk cutie jumped in the arms of Sir Richard Branson as they posed on a wing of a jumbo jet prior to takeoff.
Upon loading up onto the plane called “Birthday Girl,” Miss Moss and Branson joined fellow guests including international cricketer Kevin Pietersen, Sir Ian Botham and entertainer Christopher Biggins to recreate the airline’s inaugural flight from Heathrow to New York City.
Talking to press, Branson said: “I suspect first-class travel will disappear during this recession. This year is going to be tough for everybody. But it’s a fantastic time for passengers. I suspect they are getting the same sort of prices they were getting 25 years ago.”

Megan Fox has apologized to the little boy
Although she has a bit of a bad girl image, believe it or not, Megan Fox does have a sweet, sensitive side.
Last week, the “Transformers” star was leaving the London premiere when a young boy- in the midst of fan and paparazzi chaos- stretched to give Fox a rose and when she didn’t take it, felt snubbed and defeated.
This week, however, the brunette hottie admitted she did not see him and offered her apologies to the young fan saying, “I’m sorry, sweet boy. I would never do that to you, and I would gladly accept your rose.”
She continued, “It breaks my heart. And if you know his name, I’ll send him a personal apology. I’m horrified—I would never do that.”
Sounds like the devastated young boy could potentially become one lucky fan.
